"Why the Earth-Element?" Because the Earth is the foundation of all the elements in Nature. It is the most physical of all the elements, as it is representing abundance and prosperity, without Earth, LIFE as we know, it could not exist. Earth is a "feminine" element. It is moist, nurturing and fruitful, and it is these qualities, which make it feminine. Such attributes have inspired the Ancient Ones to envision the Earth as a great "Mother Goddess" the fertile "Creatress of Nature". The element Earth, governs: stones and trees, green fields and plants.
"Why the Air-Element?" Because Air is the element of the intellect, it is the Realm of Thought, which is the first step toward creation. It is also movement, the impetus that sends the pure-visualization of the mind, out, toward manifestation. Air is a "masculine" element, being dry, expansive and active. It is the element that inspires concentration, learning, thinking, and meditating. Air governs the winds in all 4 directions.

It is at once the most physical and spiritual of the 4 elements. It represents the realm of sexuality and passion. But it is not only "the sacred-fire" of sex. It is also the "Spark of Divinity" which shines within all living things. Fire is "masculine" element. All the tools involved with candles come under the power of the Fire-Elements.
"Why the Water-Element?" Because Water is the Element of purification, the emotions, the subconscious-mind, and Love. Just as water is fluid, constantly changing, flowing from one level to another, so too, are our emotions, in a constant state of flux. Water is the element of absorption and germination. The subconscious is symbolized by this element because it is always moving, like the sea, which rests neither day or night. It is a "feminine" element, and its Magick is carried through water and mirrors. These are the basics about the 4 elements, as it will be beneficial to be aware of them, for a deeper understanding on "how" they can improve our well being, while we are integrating their purest energies through the Healing Tools.
